A fellow canyoneer who lived in Eagle Rock was killed last Saturday while canyoneering with a group in Shaver Cut Canyon in Fresno County. His name was Luis Ortiz and he was a great guy. He was very safety conscious and always with a big smile. He apparently got caught in a slot at the bottom of the second waterfall and drowned before anyone in his group could get to him. R.I.P. Luis.
