Always wondered what these things are ... wish I had a picture.
Heading up the Crest / just after Red Box / to your left there are to "grain elevator" looking structures where a trailhead starts/ends. Said trailhead takes one to Strawberry / Meadows / Currently closed.
Anyone know what those contraptions are all about?

Sand and/or salt bins for loading up CALTRANS / Forest Service vehicles.

They might be asphalt mix storage silos.

Ah, that makes sense. There's another one off the Mt. Baldy Road with a pile of cinders next to it.
