We hiked Thunder, Telegraph, and Timber from the Notch yesterday. Skipping the fire road, we got lift tickets. Two round trip tickets are now $50. Ouch! I may have to start reading those Mt. Baldy emails for discounts. For all the times that we have been to or past Telegraph, we have never taken the 3 minute stroll to the west summit. It offers a nice view all around Icehouse Canyon. Here is an 11 image pano.

On the way back from Timber, there were intermittent sprinkles of rain. By the time we crested Telegraph, it was a steady light rain. We didn't mind the rain as long as some was falling on Mt. San Jacinto. Clouds rolled in over the Ontario ridgeline.

I thought that smoke from the fire would be visible, but the monsoon clouds were too thick. Gorgonio and Jacinto are out there somewhere.

Cool pics, love that panorama! We were over on Ontario when those clouds rolled in, it was a very welcome surprise. Got pretty soaked, but didn't mind at all :D

There are some excellent routes that run up to that southwestern summit in winter on steep snow and some ice and rock. The views near the top are priceless when everything is covered in snow.

Nice pano Richard. At $25 a ride ticket, that fire road and me will be getting a lot more familiar with one another.
