Weather channel shows that its snowing on baldy off and on.
I'm hiking it tomorrow so could be interesting, if clouds billow up though I'm gone.

It's 6:15p and the Mt. Wilson cam is reporting 35 F, some hail and a layer of snow on the ground. Picture is obscured by clouds.
More useless info.

My girlfriend and I hiked up to the ski hut in Baldy Bowl today.........As we started hiking it was rain at Manker Flats, changed over to snow about half way to the ski hut but wasn't sticking, it didn't really began sticking until we were just below the ski hut........ Unfourtunatley there was no real accumulation though
. I could hear thunder off and on the whole way, which was pretty cool, but didn't see any lightning.................
Sorry I couldn't get any pics,(my girl lost the camera charger

Anyone going up Fri/Saturday? It looks like snow again on Fri, not sticking unless over 8000 most likely.
Would love to meet up with anyone, plus it may be a good idea to not go up solo.

Some friends and I are planning a three-day hike to San Gorgonio summit this weekend. It was off and on this week as we were watching the weather, but finally we decided to go.
I only have a couple of real concerns. The first is that while there will be snow at elevation, which is no big deal, down near the trailhead it will probably be raining and maybe even thunderstorms. I am not sure how safe it is to be hiking while lightning is in the area.
Also I am bringing my dog, and while I think he will be okay with the low temperatures (I will put a thermal shirt on him at night) I am concerned about what would happen if he got wet early in the hike. The temperature at elevation is not supposed to get above freezing until Sunday.

It's my second favorite trail camp in the San Gorgonio Wilderness (Limber Pine Bench is my favorite). The views from Mineshaft are lovely. I wish I had brought my camera this trip, there were some great shots of the weather near the summit from Mineshaft on Saturday evening.FIGHT ON wrote:Mineshaft Flat camp looks like a perfect place to camp.
I had a few nostalgic moments this weekend, walking around Mineshaft Flat, remembering quite vividly spending the night there 21 Memorial Days ago.

If I'm doing one-armed push-ups, do they only count for half a push-up?FIGHT ON wrote:Yes TACO! YOU COUNT BETTER THAN I DO. I got all the way up to seven. Maybe you should count for him from now on.TacoDelRio wrote:One... two... three... ONE! One... two... three... ONE!

I believe that is near the trail fork for Mineshaft Flat. I slipped and hurt my ankle between Fish Creek Saddle and the Mineshaft Flat trail junction, but I'm not sure at what point I removed the crampons.
