Maya age 12 summits Mt Whitney

08/21/2012 was one of my proudest hiking moments when my granddaughter Maya accompanied by my son-in-law Giles summited Mount Whitney. She had been training continuously all year for this event and her determination was inspiring. We started out at 2am and made the summit at 11am, we din’nt stay long on the summit because of the clouds closing in and were back at the Portal by 5.30pm.

Maya on the summit feeling like a champion, all the training was worth it.

Congrats !! Took me till I was 49 to make my first summit. She will cherish that time with you forever....
