I have a retail job. I can barely do anything anymore, working full time and having Sunday off, the only day anyone else can go out and do stuff. Many other things have happened in recent history for me, so I'm having a real tough time doing anything, so I'm emotionally and spiritually drained. I'd really like to throw it all away and just leave, and go climb and explore and canyoneer and really live and stay the hell away from civilization and all the bullshit we've all constructed and accepted for ourselves.

Yesterday I got out a little. Went up to Crystal Lake to the crag with my new shoes. Didn't solo anything yet, maybe I will today though. Went to the bouldering area and bouldered for a while.

I desperately need to do a big objective, like good ol' Fish Fork in a day again, or one of the other ones, or a wall or something.

Contact one of the guide services about work - Yosemite Mountaineering (the one out of Yosemite Valley), Southern Yosemite Mountain Guides, maybe Rainier Mountaineering or American Alpine Institute up in Washington. Might be seasonal, maybe simple trail guiding mixed with some occasional vertical rock & ice, but it'll git ya outta L.A. for a while. And you might walk by some cool stuff you can come back and do at a later date.

yeah. Would bills, insurance, the decline of America/the rise of China all just go away please so I can just live in the backcountry?

Fuck it, let China and 'Murrica battle it out with their pocketbooks while we live in the mountains with clean water and simplicity.
