The Forest Service finally admits that extinguishing small fires has resulted in super fires (here) while increasing its budget for air tankers (here).
The first point has been understood for years. Both points are not mutually exclusive, however.PackerGreg wrote: ↑The Forest Service finally admits that extinguishing small fires has resulted in super fires (here) while increasing its budget for air tankers (here).
I second that. "Finally admits" is wildly inaccurate. The Forest Service has done controlled burns for years and gets hammered every time it fails to immediately extinguish the smallest fire. Although there is plenty to criticize about the USFS, a lot of the problem is that it has an impossible job.Mike P wrote: ↑The first point has been understood for years.
