Kenyon DeVore used to have regular "rendezvous" at Spring Camp with a naturalist named Wandalee Thompson. He would hike from the West Fork and she would hike from Big Santa Anita.

Hi, Greg,

Where is (was) Spring Camp?

Spring Camp is on the west flank of Monrovia Peak, near the head of the East Fork of the Big Santa Anita. In the old days there was a trail that started just before Fern Lodge and climbed over Adams' Falls, through Manzanita Flat to Spring Camp. There are very faint remnants of that trail, but now most folks get there via Upper Clamshell Road from the Rincon-Red Box Road. In WWII it was used as one of the CCC camps for conscientious objectors that built the mountain roads.
