Hi All -

Not much of a trip report here.... mainly just a report on trail conditions and a question.

Upper Winter Creek to Hogee's - Mt Zion - Newcs, retrace- BSA - Chantry

Roughly 13 miles

Got there relatively early and hit the trail at 7:11.

Going down from Zion to Sturde it looks like some trail work has been done. Made for some great downhill

Trail leaving Strude to Newc was nice. Never been on this before

Enjoyed Newcs -- Want to hit the Rim Trail next time. Need to bust out the Harrison Map, but can someone tell me about the following trail:

Upon entering the pass there are three options:
1_ Drop down to Devore - straight ahead
2_ Left onto the Rim Trail
3_ Right onto what looks like a fire road

Question ----- Where does #3 take a person? Shortcut.

Nice day out there in the San Gabes!

Nice dried shroom - didn't see monkeys

#3: From Newcomb's Pass, that old fire road - cleaned up during the Station fire - leads to the Rincon-Red Box road ~0.5 mile, the same road that you cross if you go straight ahead to DeVore. Once you hit R-RB road (at Newcomb Saddle) turn right and head east for ~ 0.5 to a road intersection. The sharp left downhill takes you to Shortcut ~ 8 miles. Going straight will take you to Rincon Fire Station.

It would have been magically much more nicer had you taken a bite of it!
The monkeys would have shown up for sure! ..... 666

Had I done that here are my guesses as to where I would be today -

Either

A) - Dead or near dead near a yucca

B) - Searching for Vasquez's saddle and gun --- where is it reported he lost those again? Dark Canyon? Need to look that up and eat my shroom
