Short story. Moved to Texas at the end of august for work, the state park is off the brazos river in austin county west of houston about 10 min from my new home.
Wanted to check it out, took the fiance out for a quick day hike. We intended to do a 6 mile loop but needed to get back to the visitor center to get a annual texas state park pass before they closed so we cut the loop in half.
Saw 4 deer (pretty common here), an armadillo and a close up of a woodpecker. The armadillo came out decent in the photo. The deer were to skittish to get close enough for the iphone's zoom to get a decent shot.
Feels good to get out hiking again.
