6.15.11 - mt disappointment TR

I took the fire road from just past red box up to Disappointment today. A lot of people combine this with San Gabriel Peak, which is basically across the street, but I was short on time and looking for just a short hike I could push through while staying fairly anaerobic and Disappointment gave me that.

It's the first time I've been up here since the fires and its great to see that this mountain survived! I saw a bunch of orange salamanders on the top of the mountain, each one at least 12" or so in length! I've never seen those around here... pretty awesome. Also saw plenty of black flies, of course

Glad it didn't disappoint! Does Mt. Disappointment link up easily to Markham saddle?

Indeed, Blueshammer! If you start at M.S., you follow one trail up to a T. The right goes to San Gabriel Peak and the left to Disappointment. It's a cool part of the front country that I totally recommend.
