Last week people were snowshoeing, postholing and trying to climb some icy couloir in the recently re-opened Crystal Lake area.

Things have changed. I drove up to check out the lay of the land, having never been there before. Took a few pictures and checked out the snack bar. They told me they'll keep the snack bar open from 8 to 6 every day as long as CalTrans keeps the road open. Dunno. Ranger dude at visitor center said they may open up the campgrounds around Memorial Day but was not definite - check in with the Glendora District Office he said - *shrug*. Not very crowded around 11 in the morning - mostly motorcyclists and a few hikers.
