Conditions are really beautiful on Gorgonio - After seeing Hiking Jim's beautiful photos, Norma invited me on a hike yesterday, we were going to do Jepson but I think we all were having too much fun goofing off - so we did Charlton Peak at least.

Great photos, looks like a really fun day! Were snowshoes necessary from the TH to the base of Charlton?

Not early in the AM but later, yes. Snow gets deeper past Dollar Lake turnoff.

Nice pix, Tracie! Some of my favorite hikes have been those where I "failed" to meet my intended goal. The view from Charlton is still pretty sweet!

Tracie: yes, i had a goal in mind that day but i wouldn't say i was "very" disappointed in not making it. There are many opportunites to summit a mountain, but having a blast with the people you are with, laughing so hard and doing this all in gorgeous backcountry is a summit all unto itself. We had two summits on Sunday: Friendship and Charlton!
Jepson in winter is still calling my name, but on another day...

Nice! I saw an ice pirate sticker on a truck when we came back to the South Fork parking lot on Sunday, I was wondering who was up there.
