I'm thinking about getting a pair of salomon quest 4d's. they'd be used for mostly day hikes and overnighters. anyone have any experience with these, positive or negative?

Haven't tried them, but I believe Backpacker magazine gave them a favorable review. For whatever that's worth. I have 3 pairs of other Salomon shoes and they're just great.

I'm a lifelong fan of Salomon. Never tried their boots, but they look to be pretty similar in build quality to their shoes, from what I can see.

agreed. their shoes are great.
i bought the quests and have taken them on two hikes thus far... phenomenal! fit is similar to the XA pro ultra's but the sole is obviously much more durable and the strong midsole support makes a big difference.

Love Salomons. Only trail/hiking shoes I've liked enough to keep buying (the XA's)

Dang. I've had really bad luck with Solomon and wouldn't ever buy them again. Each to his own I guess.
