I think the OFF TOPIC section is meant for "anything" and this section, GENERAL DISCUSSION, is meant for topics relevant to the San Gabriel Mountains (or random pictures of Generals).

I learned the Pinko moniker as a kid from Ralph, the neighbor character on "Wait Till Your Father Gets Home"...
