Weather looks particularly good for a jaunt up ol' Big Iron on Sat. 19th.

Turns out the weather wasn't as cool as I had hoped. Turned around at the saddle for a few reasons - one being I didn't have enough fluids on me for a warm weather hike. So be it. Was nice to meet KathyW as we crossed paths.

Is it Allison Saddle or Heaton Saddle? I've seen both.

Am I a fan if I always curse to damnation that last mile both going up and coming down? I guess in a masochistic way.

HikeUp: most commonly known as Allison Saddle. The use trail traversing to Allison Mine starts to the left near the saddle.

Go Kathy!

I am a fan of the lower part of Iron Mtn...westside after the bridge representing :) But I have to give a shout out to the Ross Mtn fan club which I would include myself in......Ross is....young fun prince, Baden-Powell is older prince, Baldy is old king, and Iron is the court jester? 8)

Actually, that's the real trail, but use is the only thing keeping it open. Anyone been down that way recently? I haven't been for quite a few years, and I'm wondering how the trail is. It used to be brushy, but not too bad.
