After numerous tries I finally made it to Wilson Cyn Saddle! WAHOO!

The weather, amount of time I have, motivation, conditioning...
This ride starts at the Newhall Ave Carpool parking lot. There is a parking lot for the Santa Monica Mtns Recreation area but there is a fee. I have never seen anyone parked there.
You can go up Whitney Cyn Rd from here, I opted to ride down the canyon a short way and up the Edison road. This is a bit longer but not as steep.
Whitney Cyn road is about as steep as Hostetter Cyn Road (sort of) in the Verdugos though it doesn't seem that way.
Maybe it was because I'd failed so many times and wasn't really sure how much further it was. But it seemed longer & harder than it was on paper.
So much of this is mental, I wanted to get to the Los Pintos electronic site but that is for another day.
The road hasn't been graded recently (1-2 years) so there are lots of deep ruts keeping the downhill speed down. But this road is also used by hikers and equestrians so you gotta keep it under control.
It was plenty fast for me
