20080408 Telegraph Peak NWF - Easy Way
Headed out after work, still tired from work at 4 in the morning and Baldy the other day. Went up Thunder, to the saddle between Tele and Thunder. Went across the face to below the good stuff, and climbed up this route.

Brought a light alpine rack in case I had to bail. Last ascent of this face made me wish I did the same then. Encountered good hard ice further up the route. Beautiful conditions and a great day out. It was also a cold day, which helped, as there was ZERO rockfall!
Windy at the saddle...
Moving across
On the route
I stopped taking pics from here to the summit, but I did take video, which I will upload after I finally eat something substantial.

Looking out and down
Summit
Mandatory summit pelvic thrust picture
Headed down the broad and easy West Face (not the technical Southwest Face), back up Thunder, and then down the westmost ski run to Miner's Bowl, down the road to Manker Canyon (road), to the Ski Lift lot, then down to Wanker Flats parking area, and home. Very light precipitation at times, with whiteout coming and going on the route.
West Face
This was much better than my previous ascent of this route in late December, 2006.
Video later...

Indeed, but the pelvic thrust was too much for this here family forum.hvydrt wrote:awesome pictures.
Nunc est bibendum
Steeper overall, steeper uptop, actual alpine ice up top, mixed climbing around M3 or so and probably lower. Much more fun, in my opinion. It also goes by faster, and keeps you thinking more. It is a more mentally engaging route, where the Bowl is more of a stairmaster.hvydrt wrote:how would you compare the difficulty of this route to the bowl???? about the same? more technical? steeper???
