Mt Tyndall 10-16-10
It was a long week. Took me forever to post my pix, but post i did.
Thank you Dave G for a very FUN day in the Sierra. Though we didn't stand above 14k we had a great day and enjoyed the beauty before us. Plus we donned our 'pons for our first snow hike of the season. Snow =
A few highlights... A spectacular sunrise
Symmes Canyon in fall color
G-man amongst the Aspens
Last traverse below Shepherd's Pass
Glaciated shoreline of Lake 3661
The objective that was not ours today, Mount Tyndall
Mount Williamson watches as we asend the north rib
The fresh powdered-sugar snow and the not yet frozen rocks of the north rib
Dave descending after the difficult decision to say, "Not today."
Crossing a Sierra tundra
The sky that threatened us all day
A sighting of a rare White-tailed Sierra Jackrabbit above 12k that lifted our spirits again
Me in a sepia colored meadow that will turn white with snow before the day is over.

thanks Tracie! it is always hard to turn-around even when you know that statement is true. the questions arise... if i would have started earlier, if i would have taken less photos, if only i was as fast as lik2hik, if, if if?...TracieB wrote:Stunning photos. The mountain isn't going anywhere soon....
i truly would like to do a May 4-day snow camp and tag both mtns when the snow makes the going more direct. though carrying a full winter pack over S-Pass is a daunting thought. time to start weight training!
