I started at 3:58am...with the milky way overhead (first time I ever saw it!).
Climb was uneventful. Weather was on the warm side and sunny. Crisp air.
I stopped at Dollar lake saddle for lunch. I met three guys who were headed to Jepson Peak.
I summitted at 11:12am.
Only one major patch of snow about 15 minutes from the top.
Stayed there a while looking for an elevation marker or pin. Did not find one so I took this pix of my GPS...so I can brag about getting my fat ass up there.
Started going down around 11:30am. Massive thunderheads all around me. Heard thunder rumbling all around.
Back at my car at 3:12pm as it started raining. Never saw rangers/volunteers to check my permit.
That was a good day.

Funny. I didn't think about that... The GPS dude needs to eat more fiber though.TacoDelRio wrote:Cool deal.
You should take a photo of someone holding up a flag in that taking-a-dump stance the GPS dude is doing, with the GPS next to him.
Did you ever see an elevation marker on top of Gorgonio? Like this...
I could not find the !@#$ thing...

@*#$%.....of course, I had to miss it. Oh well.Tim wrote:Kristo, there is a marker. I remember it being near one of the highest rocks (but not on the highest one).
A good excuse to go back up, eh?
