Took the lion hound out for some good exercise today. We hiked down the dirt road from Cloudburst Summit, to the campground (and a little beyond) then took the PCT back up to the car to make a nice loop of about 4-5 miles. The weather was superb - 70 degrees with a cool breeze keeping the gnats away. There are beautiful lupines everywhere, and they smell like grape soda. Ember chased lizards. Mostly unsuccessful, though she did get the tail to fall off of one (sorry lizard...)

Always take time to smell the flowers:

What are these? So pretty!

The end of the road, where it meets the camp:

Please filter your water, or it will taste like dog feet:

Nice camping for big groups:

On the way out, I took a spin down the Sulphur Springs road from Three Points. Horse Flats camp is open, and untouched by fire. It looks like Hillyer escaped, mostly. Such a pretty place. I didn't drive further, but it looked like I could have. Maybe all the way to Sulphur Springs??

There are new signs all over the place - some are kind of weird!

This one makes sense:

But never saw this warning before: (Protect Wildlife! Do not cut den trees!)

There's only one station you get reception on up there, and it only plays that song, looped over and over!

Beautiful Rhodesian! My dad has had a few, and they're great (for canids). Nice trip report and pictures, as well.

Code: Select all

they're great (for canids)
 (by the way, I can't imagine having "a few" of them! Handful!!)

Thanks guys. And by the way, I got the dog way before I was into mountain lions, (She'll be 9 next week!) so the whole lion-hunting thing is just coincidence. She is a great hiker though, and good dog all around.

Dogs are a man’s (woman’s) best friend, they go hiking when others cancel, no matter what time you start, they are always ready and willing to go – I miss mine too
