JimQPublic had a birthday Friday the 7th so we celebrated with a Jepson-San Gorgonio summit. Even in the morning it was a posthole festival but not terrible. Melting out fast, the entire trail is a stream. Solid snow before you get to the Dry Lake/Dollar Lake split and still pretty deep up high. We took the Jepson direct route and postholed in the lower bowl area but once in the steeper sections there was a decent bite. Traversed over to San G. summit, very little wind. Awesome weather. Long glissade down San G., over to Dry Lake and out. The avalanche field is incredible. Snow pack underneath all of that stuff. Great to get in one last winter climb. Maybe there could be another one? Maybe, but things are warming up fast. Pictures are here:
