since its the only spot open for car camping
i might spend the a night or two with the kids
hopefully it will rain so i can read and sleep

can anyone tell me if this spot is nice or does it really suck
and i should look for something else.

also i would like to knock off 4 peaks from 100 peak list

iron mt #3
granite mt #1
round top
rabbit peak #1

with the kids i probobly will only do 1 or 2

Conversations about Monte Cristo usually revolve around how bad(ugly) it is. That said,as a place to camp it is closer to a lot of the activities. I have only driven past it several times and usually speed up when I see the turnoff.

Not much of a choice considering the other carcamping locations are either likely snow covered or closed at this time.

I was up there a month or so ago with a Boy Scout troop. It's not that bad this time of the year, although I think it would be baking in the summer. There's a little creek flowing down the middle.
