"Bravo Zulu" to you guys. A lot of great pics and landmarks. With this route seemingly becoming more popular within the last few years it'll be nice to have a "legal" option if the hammer ever comes down.

OK--I'm still itching to do this! Anyone wanna join me this Saturday? I'm mostly looking for someone to hold my hand through the brush navigation. I will ski down, so if you decide to take the tram down I can meet you there (don't need shuttle).

Outta curiosity - anyone know who made the first ascent of San Jacinto's North Face - even more curious about the decade/year this happened.

Thanks a bunch for those links Cy, some fun readings in those - out and out amazing to my eyes and mind!
I keep hearing about this 'tunnel' area too - are there any good pics that illustrate this infamous tunnel?
I gotta get that John Robinson San Jacinto book!

Thanks Taco - so that's it - that is very tunnely alright, I was think something like a rock tunnel.
At first I thought the tunnel photo might be an April 1st joke - seeing that I wasn't seeing you going through a tunnel at 85mph with a drifting ending...
And agree with ya on the looking down and back photo - plunk a cabin up there - it's a million dollar view for sure!

There's a mesa of sorts up there, on top of "the isthmus" that has the best view in the world. Perfect for a cabin.
The tunnel is fine, but if you DON'T find it, you're kinda screwed. Hard.

Excellent climb Sam. Hard enough without blisters.
Damn, if I don't get off the stick and get around to doing this climb I'll need to enter a lottery to get a permit

The "legal" route we took seemed to be bushwhacking most of the way to that tunnel, the tunnel was actually a nice change because it was a tunnel, go figure.TacoDelRio wrote:There's a mesa of sorts up there, on top of "the isthmus" that has the best view in the world. Perfect for a cabin.

as tempting as that is i would have to say negative, my bro in law is with la county fire, that wouldn't go over well.
