That's F"n rediculous. I can't beleive they're going to permanently close the cave because of this dude.

well if his body is blocking the way and they can't get him out i think it would be kinda weird to leave it open, there must be some complication though, it seems unlikely that they would immediately jump to that conclusion without having tried other options

Yep, they closed the cave for good.
11/27/2009 - The decision to permanently close the cave was made earlier today after much discussion of all of the options. The body of caver John Jones could not be recovered without risking injury to rescue personnel and the decision was made to make the cave the permanent resting place with assurances to the family that the cave would be closed and that his body would never be disturbed.
At one point they actually had him partially freed but one of the anchors holding up the pulley system failed and he fell back in the crevice.
