My buddy Chris (best friend, practically my brother) wasn't able to reach the summit of Baldy via DBB in 2005, so I took him up there today. I figured Register Ridge would better fit his personality and physical fitness type than the other routes. I guess I was right. He's a heavy guy, but very strong.

Went up, hit Harwood, ate lunch near the Global positioning Alien thingy, then went to Baldy. I took off jogging to West Baldy and got there in 5 minutes. Took me 5:59.53 to run back to Baldy, which has way more uphill.

We went down the Bowl, where one can scree ski down without issue, closer to DBB. Then down to the car a bit after nightfall.

Computer troubles, so no pics for a while. Nothing out of the ordinary up there!

Last time I hiked past the alien thing on Harwood, there was a heap of trash under it.

That's an alien "Pit Toilet" because only an alien would be "Dumb" enough to leave trash there :?

Photobucket blows. They should go back to their old system of copy and paste. I posted everything, but it pasted the same f#@*&@(#%ing URL/code for a few pictures. Goddamn retarded. Going to post a few instead.

Nike doesn't engineer their "ALL CONDITIONS GEAR" shoes to withstand such EXTREME conditions as friggin' scree skiing. Argh.

Nice pictures, dude! I hiked the Village Trail on Sunday. Still trying to decide whether it's worth compiling a report.

Oh, and congrats to Chris! Baldy rocks!

Any tips on finding and following the scree descent line you took down the bowl. Does it save time getting down to the hut versus the regular trail?

Damn, Hikeup. I got the pose all wrong. You look scared, I just look aroused.

Hikeup, the way I ski down the bowl is the northern/rightmost extreme of the Bowl. It turns into a sort of trail.

Zach
Going up the Bowl is the most direct. Overall shortest route (regarding land covered) may be the canyon between Harwood and Dawson, then up the northeast face of Baldy to the top. Starts in Stockton.
