I took a thoroughly enjoyable hike along the San Bernardino Divide trail yesterday. Started at 0618 and returned to the trailhead around 1746 PDT. This trail begins ~ 5,700 ft and after ~ 7 miles, you're at 10,000 ft. Views south to San Jacinto and the Yucaipa ridge, East to San Gorgonio and north to Big Bear Lake are gorgeous despite the persistent haze. I passed a total of twelve people over the course of the day. Despite being in the wrong range, this trail offers some really, really nice, not too strenuous hiking. Just when I thought all hope was lost, I DID manage to add Anderson (10,840') and Shields (10,680') peaks to my NHPS card. I wasn't quite as lucky regarding San Bernardino and S.B. East peaks, having accidentally summited both.

Yes, he chopped down a cherry tree there and used it to build the monument.
