July 11 broken ankle medevac by helo near Baldy Ski Hut
I don't know, but I think if I broke an ankle, unless it was a compound fracture, I would be able limp and stumble out on my own accord. And if I had friends with me, I'm sure they could help me hobble out.
but to call in a helovac? Now thats a lot of tax payers money down the drain. I wonder what the cost difference is between 4 guys going in on foot patrol and along with the guys friends, carrying him out in a litre vs calling in a chopper.
In any case, at least he is safe now.

I suppose that means that the two counties are on the "cutting edge" of SAR?
