I had a short amount of time today after checking a trailcam on Mt Williamson, and was already up in the "high country" so I decided to see what Reed Spring was all about. The trail down from Islip saddle is not as shady as I expected. It was warm and sunny, and the rocky trail is washed out in a few places - necessitating some ballet moves to cross safely. It doesn't look like this trail gets a whole lot of use, but maybe that's just because it's summer. Anyway I saw a few interesting things. This big fungus:
Some gooseberries (how are you supposed to eat these spiny things?!)
And the view to the north(east?):
The spring is flowing. Just a few shallow puddles.

Don't know - it looks like it will make it through this summer with a trickle. I bet in the spring it's really nice with snowmelt.
