i have never been to idyllwid before...we were at morongo casino for a comedy thing and the next day we went tocheck out idyllwild...its an awesome place....full of friendly creative people.....and lots of trails......

i had no intention of hiking so i had no shoes only my jordans....my girl [non-hiker]was talking to the forest ranger and when he mentioned the trail she said she wanted to go...i almost refused because i didnt want to mess up my shoes but i just decided to hike barefoot....

at first it hurt a little bit but after some steps i was running free...we hiked
for about an hour and then found a nice spot with a view and shade and watch a little yellow bird with a red face jump around and sing...it was a nice walk...i wouldnt recommend hiking barefoot but its better than not hiking at all...

after our little walk we ended upat arribas mexican restarant and i ordered/ate the best steak and eggs ive ever had.....deeeelicious

we stayed at the taquitz inn and i cant wait to go back....idyllwild is great

Lots of great hiking on Mt. San Jacinto. . .A ride up on the tram is amazing, not to be missed! Last summer my son and I took the tram up, hiked in to Round Valley, camped and summited over the course of a few days. Xlnt!

friendowl,

What's up with you - are you some type of 'snake magnet' or something?

Even if you are, you are my type of hiker:

I used to hike just so I could enjoy a pastrami sandwich on a mountain top
