Hiked up to Mt. Deception this morning from the trail head just south of Red Box (at Road 2N52). After reaching the summit, I descended down the west ridge to what I can only describe as a giant bowl or a dried up lake. It's about 0.5 miles west and 500' below the summit of Deception. Very visible on the satellite views.

Someone camped with dog about 100 yds. up Road 2N52...

The bowl is known in some circles as Supercloud Hollow

Thanks for the info Matt.

A cool place to see and explore. I first noticed it on the satellite views and decided to explore it, not having seen Brennen's description.

Wow - that is weird about the guy camping! Matt and I thought that was strange the first time - "wow, he's really getting away from it all...on this PAVED ROAD..."

That is a fun hike. Nice pics! The views along that ridge are beautiful.

I was on this road once before, back in November 2006. When I saw the tent this morning I had a strong feeling of deja vu, but I dismissed it. But now (probably due to the power of suggestion) I wonder if I DID see him back then. I seriously doubt this guy has been there for two and a half years!?!
