USGS Topo easy download

I made a little map that might be easier to quickly access and download those usgs topo maps. Just click on the quadrangle wanted, then click download topo.

The divisions are poorly constructed I know but it works! More will stem from this later.

Ze, that's a great PDF download, I downloaded half of them already.

What I was wondering is could you give me instructions on how to make my own shaded areas (outside the ones already there that you gave us access to) so I can grab a map of any Quadrangle area in California - I do sections of the PCT and I decent map software, I would just like to have it in larger scale and more detail?

You can use the usgs site which works fine by itself : http://store.usgs.gov/. click on 'map locator'

I'll add more off all the surrounding mountain ranges soon too for the socal site.

Some of the ones I want have red lines running through them and they are not as interactive or printable like you posted, I must be doing something wrong.

I have 13 of the inventory route maps for the Angeles forest if anyone wants em....these are the ones that show all drivable(perhaps not to the public though) routes in the forest. For example, part of Mt.Wilson quad...

Not sure. When you mark a quandrangle, a marker pops up and you click on it, and it gives you options for which maps to download. Those OFR ones are not topographic, stick with the other one. Were you able to download it?

Geocities webpage. Im only allowed a free 4 MB per hour traffic. ....maybe one person(otherwise the site will crash until the next hour,etc) who can handle the maps(a little more than 1MB apiece) can get em and then put them somewhere if they are worthwhile.

I also have Sleepy Valley&Whitaker Peak(Ruby Canyon,Piru Creek) but ran out of website storage.

Not a whole lot, but for some reason thought those maps would be on the Angeles site, but they were deleted....perhaps since they show unauthorized routes(mostly pertains to Sleepy Valley)....mostly only got it for obscure places.

lol that could work

for the curious, "Zé" is basically "Joe" in portugues, which I speak pretty well and stayed in Brazil for 3 months. It comes from "José". Just say the last syllable and you got the pronunciation!

Interesting. They called me Jeem when I was down there, with a lot of an "sh" sound in that leading "J".

Yeah when they pronounce "J", it's like a soft 'g', like the 'g' in 'beige. They also enunciate the 'e' at the end of the word, like a 'y' in english. So "Joe' sounded like 'sho-ee'.

I lived in Sweden for a year; in Swedish "J" sounds like 'y', so Joseph became 'yoseph'. I rarely had anyone call me Joe b/c it simply became 'yo'.
