Re: Amgen Tour, May 21 (Sat) - Mt. Baldy Limited Access
Anyone got any good ideas/schemes/suggestions? I figure someone from this board would hike in from Lytle Creek Saturday morning. Didn't Elwood do that hike a while back? We talked to the lady selling lift tickets Saturday morning. The finish line will be in front of the driveway next to the ticket ...

Re: Amgen Tour, May 21 (Sat) - Mt. Baldy Limited Access
We have a room reserved at the Buckhorn for Friday night. Our plan is to leave the car and walk up to the finish Saturday morning or as close as we can get. It's 4.2 miles and gains 2100 feet. Of course, this assumes that foot traffic is not also restricted. In that case, there is always cross-count...

I would think your chances of finding a pot farm depend on how much cross-country travel you do. Nobody will pick Icehouse Canyon as a grow site.

Reminder: the laws are for little people, NOT the residents of Newport Coast. The rich don't pay taxes, either. Leona Helmsley, the Queen of Mean, said: "We don't pay taxes. Only the little people pay taxes..." A humorous quote ascribed to George W. Bush by the Doonesbury comic was "...

Re: ultralight first aid kit?
Like most folks, I carry a first aid kit when hiking. However, what I am really concerned about is screwing up an ankle or knee and having to hobble back to the trailhead for what could be many miles. So, I also take 2 SAM splints and 3 rolls of adhesive tape. If I needed to immobilize a joint, I co...

If you have any interest in Death Valley, then you must check out Steve Hall's web site www.panamintcity.com. It's the best hiking resource for Death Valley in existance and more comprehensive than all of the guide books combined.

I have seen those who-yields-to-who signs in many places. The pecking order on trail is 1. Horses - because they can be skittish around strangers 2. Hikers and foot traffic 3. Bicycles - because of their mobility they should be able to avoid the others The biggest problem is bike riders who travel d...

Re: BALDY - Archive of Mt. Baldy-related Discussions
The trail under the lift is used by mountain bikers who pay to have their bikes hauled up by the lift and then ride down. So, you want to watch out for bike traffic. I have never heard of any restrictions on foot traffic on that trail. We saw people going both up and down on foot last Saturday. Mt. ...
