No, the race goes all the way through the ski lift parking lot switchbacks to the trailer where lift tickets and t-shirts are sold.

I would think your chances of finding a pot farm depend on how much cross-country travel you do. Nobody will pick Icehouse Canyon as a grow site.

lesper4 - We have dayhiked Whitney 5 times, the last being 2009. Every time, we have seen packs stashed at the junction while the owners bagged the summit. So, it seems to be a common practice.

The trail under the lift is used by mountain bikers who pay to have their bikes hauled up by the lift and then ride down. So, you want to watch out for bike traffic. I have never heard of any restrictions on foot traffic on that trail. We saw people going both up and down on foot last Saturday. Mt. ...
