Norma-
Thanks for posting the T/R. It certainly was perfect weather and great snow! I really enjoyed sharing the trail with you and Jim.
I would post pictures, but it seems I left the camera memory card at home. But then your pictures are always way better anyway!
Good times!!

Re: Water at Cedar Glen? (Icehouse Canyon area)

Went through There today (4/3) and the trail is free of snow from the trailhead all the way to the camp. The stream is flowing with plenty of water. Nobody was up there today. There are some remaining snow patches along the trail past the camp, between the camp and the upper junction with Icehouse C...

Re: Old Mt. Wilson Trail

What Hikeup said! The City of Sierra Madre is in charge of the trailheads, including the gate to Chantry Flats road. Their website is very often not up to date. It may say that the trails are still closed, when in fact they have been opened. I think part of their concern is the adjacent canyon areas...

Cougarmagic/Hikeup:
I believe the stone structure in the photo is the old gauging station. The foundation between First water and the gauging station was the location of the old "Quarter Way House".

It is pretty back there!

Thanks for the report. Nice pictures of the wildflowers. I tried taking some photo's of the flowers last Sunday - in the rain. didn't turn out so good. It's been almost a year since the fire on the lower part of the Mt. Wilson Trail. Amazing how much new growth has occurred since then.

Simonov: Last year, I checked out the spring a couple of times in August. On 8/2 it was flowing at about 1 liter per minute. On 8/31 it was down to about 2/3 liter per minute. Based on that, it seems to gradually slow down over a fairly long period of time. So if you check it out ahead of time, you ...

Wilson Trail, I’ve alw...
