Re: Icehouse Canyon Snow - 2014/03/01
Thanks. Glad to share. Sean, for these spheres, I was just shooting on my phone, so the person you saw with a nice camera was definitely not me. I did, however, see the campers. They were camped just a bit above the start of the Cucamonga Wilderness. I spoke briefly with one of the guys - he mention...

Icehouse Canyon Snow - 2014/03/01
Icehouse is usually packed with hikers. Not so much today. I enjoyed seeing some real snow after months of nothing this season. Snow was falling on and off during the hike. My photo spheres (360 degree panoramas) from today's hike: https://www.google.com/maps/views/view/ ... AAGupmE5-Q https://www.g...

Re: Devil's Backbone to Baldy, Three Ts Trail 10/12-13/2013
Thanks! Glad you liked them. These are taken with a Nexus 4 phone camera using Android's relatively new built in photosphere feature. The main page for it should give you an idea of how it works: http://www.google.com/maps/about/contri ... otosphere/ Basically, the camera guides you to an extent and...

Thanks Sean. It was great to finally have a bit of snow up in the mountains, although it is melting quite fast.

Devil's Backbone to Baldy, Three Ts Trail 10/12-13/2013
This is a slightly different photo trip report - all the photos are photospheres (Android's 360 degree photo capability). Note that Internet Explorer support for this is minimal. Use Chrome or Firefox. On Saturday, I hiked up Devil's Backbone Trail to the Baldy Summit. Most of the trail was free of ...

Re: Mt Lowe, San Gabriel Peak, Mueller Tunnel - Storm - 3/17/12
Rallison- pretty stout conditions for a snow ride. I was in a black Audi driving down and saw you riding uphill a couple miles below Crystal Lake. I actually thought you were a madman who started down in Azusa or Glendora. Starting from above West Fork only confers 1/2 madman status.. I got a flat ...

Re: Mt Lowe, San Gabriel Peak, Mueller Tunnel - Storm - 3/17/12
Disappointed in seeing the rock slide already at the west end of the tunnel - jeez. After the hike, I stumbled upon your pictures from a week ago and was amazed at the difference. On the plus side, it looked like the new slide caused no structural damage, so hopefully it is just a matter of clearin...

Mt Lowe, San Gabriel Peak, Mueller Tunnel - Storm - 3/17/12
First time posting here - might as well start with a nice winter storm hike up Mt. Lowe and San Gabriel Peak. Ended up hiking just over 5 miles. Basically, Eaton Saddle through Mueller Tunnel to Markham Saddle to Mt. Lowe. Returned to Markham Saddle and hiked up to San Gabriel Peak before finally re...
