I read a TR (bike-based) about this area, down Cherry Creek and up Tecuya Creek. Many bears were encountered, and a large desert tortoise. You got some great shots, really captures the variety of the area. Thanks!

I have no recollection of those markers, but Hogee's was our scout troop's (T28 Van Nuys) favorite weekend hike. I know I've seen markers like that before, can't place any, maybe someplace outside Yosemite? Sure beats fiberglass for durability and enviro friendliness.

I've only done Baldy twice, via Notch Backbone and via Pine-Dawson Backbone. Both were overnight trips, and the drive was the most arduous part of the ascent.

Nat Fire Sit Aware - Their hot spot detectors show something in Baldy Bowl and something on Thunder right now (15:56). I hope these are backpacking stove review and false positive.

Looks like you ended up on the Fish Tank Loop , so named because there is an old galvanized stock tank at the low point, filled from a reliable spring, and the tank is chock full of goldfish! I have watched the upper Yosemite Fall miss it's target all day due to high wind. Ron Kauk is the only thing I've known to flow up Yosemite Fall.

Foggy days up there are the best! Your focus shrinks to the tiny world around you, peaceful and muffled, colors all different, cooler greens. Yeah, I thought that, too, when I saw the pic. It's the same spot. They spent a lot, did a lot of work, and it's broken again. Last time it was so bad, the only feasible bypass was to hoof it directly up-slope and meet the road above.
