@Ze

Not familiar with Iron Fork Camp. Where's the best place to start on that one?

Re: Easy, secluded, multi-day hike in SG with access to water?

@Taco

Yeah, that might work! I've gone up that trail just a little bit. I know where it is. I'd like to scope it out just a little more to see if it will really work for two groups of 15. Thanks for your input!

Easy, secluded, multi-day hike in SG with access to water?

I'm trying to find a beautiful hike in the San Gabriel Mountains that is suitable for a group of up to 30 people that has access to water. I would prefer a secluded place where we can camp for 2-3 nights without getting interrupted by other passing parties. I would also prefer the hike to be anywher...

Re: SNOW - Questions, Forecasts & Reports About Snow

The forecast is called for snow levels to plummet tonight. Now the storm came a few hours early so we will have to wait and see whether there is any precipitation left in the storm by the time it cools off tonight. Baldy is reporting 2 feet with skiing down to the parking lot. That's no F in my book...

Nice. Last time I was on DBB Manker Canyon looked like a fun shortcut to bypass the lame road. Look forward to trying in.

I was stoked to find a stash of ice pirates stickers in the registry box on the 13th. So thanks!

Re: BALDY - Archive of Mt. Baldy-related Discussions

I have checked the schedule for the hut and see that there is no host for the weekend of May 8th and 9th. I was wondering if any of you are hut hosts and if so would be interested in hosting a small group of my friends for my bachelor party for sat-sun? It will be real low key and I would truly appr...

Re: 50 Mile Rwanda Ride

This looks like a fun ride. Also a good way to see some trails around OC. I'm assuming it's not too technical on the descents. My skills descending are weak - got hurled in El Moro today. Anything like the 'Redtail' or 'Rattlesnake' on this ride? About 75% of the ride are trails that I ride fairly ...

It's just that I don't want our National Parks looking like this picture of the gate to the communication complex on Pleasant Peak in the Santa Ana Mountains. Neither do I want to be around when the shooting is taking place. https://eispiraten.com/images-archived/richardk.smugmug.com/Nature/Pleasan...

50 Mile Rwanda Ride

Is anyone planning to do the Rwanda ride April 10th in Orange County? It is over 50 miles of dirt with an expected 500 riders for it's 4th consecutive year. It would be fun to say hi before the ride (not race) and enjoy a beer at the after party. Learn more here. http://www.50mileride.com/

Nice. I think we may have walked up the road with you guys first thing in the morning. Glad you guys had fun. Was the east side of the bowl as icy for you as it was for us? You finished prob 30 min before us. And I like the guy with the monster golf umbrella in his pack... :)

One Pissed off Devil 2-5

I have the habit of looking for storms and heading out into the wilderness to test my self and experience the awesomeness of winter however Friday the storm found us. We knew weather was moving in so we started at 6AM by hiking up the never ending Falls Rd to the Notch and eventually to the start of...

I imagine it would be impossible to navigate in a real/complete whiteout ... It has it's challenges. I haven't posted a trip report yet but I was up on the Devil's Backbone Friday and it was INSANE! I fully planned on either putting on chains either by choice or by force but surprisingly there was no chain enforcement going in or out.
