Belated thanks for the insight and advice. We took your suggested route, descending the last part with the ski lift. The only sketchy area was at what I now know to be known as the Crux. But, with a ice axes in hand, we were able to navigate that area without much difficulty.

Wow, that seems blazing fast. I've never hiked Baldy so I don't have a great feel for how long the RT hike usually takes, but I had planned for about double your time. Any word on the current conditions? What type of traction is needed--microspikes, crampons, snowshoes? Planning on a hike this Saturday so any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
