Re: Meet Big Tom

. Just look at the cuddly wuddly lions. AW, you are too late in posting the cuddly-wuddly looking kitties!!! We would have enjoyed them had we not first seen the big T video, now its scary kitty fear time to be in the forest! CM, please remove the video or nobody will dare go to the forest anymore....

Re: Baby Burbank Lions discovered under car

Wow, this is really odd...... What the heck is going on out there?? Too many kitties and not enough food in the burned forest area to sustain them so, out of desperation, since they like to catch live moving food, the civilized food(humans, dogs, cats) is becoming more attractive so here they come to...

Re: Chantry Flat to Wilson via Camp Sturtevant,Winter Creek Loop

Sounds beautiful, any pictures? We did this last year in the snow (Feburary) but only went the other direction up and back. I prefer the silence that permeates the canopy along with the fall foliage scattered over the trail and the whispering sounds of the water as you cross or pass by the streams....

Chantry Flat to Wilson via Camp Sturtevant,Winter Creek Loop

Once an a while I kind of turtle out and hike with a small group of people that like to hike long, fun places like this one to the top of Wilson. It all started on sunday morn around 8am; being able to find a parking spot on the Chantry Flats parking lot was a pleasant surprise; where were all the A...

Re: Meet Big Tom

OK, that does it. I'm not going outside ever again. Oh yes you will go out again! From now on you will have to drink your beer or take a big pharma anti-anxiety candy before you start the hike as to forget who will be around the forest watching you! If you want to get more protective put on a kevla...

Hey CM, bingo! you hit the catpot!!!, what a show!!! and what a scare to the weak of kitty-heart! Perhaps you could tell us the area so it can become desolate from any of the SGMDF people after they see this awesome video! Maybe you should post a warning such as "don't view this vid as it will ...

A little huffy puffy with some nice ladies on the ridge eh? Sounds like a fun hike  Well, once you reach the Korean banquet bench"manzanita ridge", and you don't feel you have lead feet or hardly struggled to breathe, or you don't need to lie on the bench for a recuperating nap, then...

Devastating loss for the family (lost a son to bike accident 3months ago), the forrest and all the people that came in contact with Richard through his outing trips and the trail work he did on various places in the forrest. How about a warm AB at 10,064' in the pitch black of night, accompanied by a steady frigid wind, followed by a harrowing descent of your very own backbone (also sans slippage)? Plz by all means drop down(3000') for a visit! I am sure some wanna be mountaineer or a foolish humanoid will have a hell ...

The Devil does not like your style!, you chill the AB?!!! It has to be kept and consumed hot as hell if you ever want to enjoy a hellish buzz ride. The Devil admires your ability to drink the AB on top of Islip and then be able come down the mountain with no slippage..... 666

Accolades for graffiti? What are you, some kind of beast??!! No!!! just the Devils advocate; the lingering broken chunks of concrete is more of an eyesore than the art work in the water tank. The circumference of the water tank gets smaller each time they paint over it thus preserving the the art wo...

Old Mount Wilson Trail: the wintery wind windup

The prefect trail to enjoy a great hike and to keep you in shape during the winter months. The drive up to Baldwin Av on sunday revealed lots scattered tree parts on the edge of the road and the sidewalks as you made your way to the trail head. Right from the start the trail looked like it was clear...

Echo Mt via 405 aka Sam Merrill Trl

One very popular trail for all kinds of folks to go up to the historic Echo Mountain site. Being near the city, able to go up higher at different directions and a regularly well -volunteer- maintained trail, it never seems to bore me every time I go there. On the winter weekends, past noon is the be...

Managed to find a parking spot near the entrance to Sam Merrill trl,- now known as the 405 trl for its weekend overuse and with a hope of hitching a ride to Pinecrest rd gate for the trek up the toll rd to Henninger Flats. Always, I wondered what magic hides in these rarely traveled places. Taco and company, thank you for giving us a glimpse in that special place and I hope yo...

A great summery day brought me back to Mt Baldy via the ski hut way. Having been absent from the high country for two months, the huffy-puffyness kicked in as soon as I left the fire road and ascended the ski hut trail maintaining the 2.5 hrs pace to the top. High country environment is a double wha...
