Any post that starts off saying it is not click bait, well you know the rest. This feels like a flaky post.

Re: Missing hiker (Monica Reza)

This is what happens when something can't be explained, all the conspiracy theorists come out with these wild tales that have nothing to do with anything other then it is possible so you can't say 100% positively it is not. This is standard procedure and if she isn't found for a longer time period ...

Re: Which Way To Occidental?

I went once, that route looks about right but you do start from the top and then go along the side, right above the road to get around the installation. It should be pretty easy overall even though I do remember the trail was narrow where it went around. If you want excitement you can try it from ...

Re: Browns Flat: Overnight 2026

Browns Flat is where the cougars hang out, interesting. One of these weekends that has cooler weather I need to get up there, will have to find where you made the cut. When I was up there years ago there looked like a good route without going all the way to the end of the ridge.

I've reached the point that I don't care, many named mountains locally have no business having names and I prefer Peak 5,054 to all the silly names people give them.

Re: INTROS - New members, introduce yourself here!

You sound like you need to do Yucaipa Ridge via Mill Creek Jumpoff to Galena and over to Little San Gorgonio, wait until snow melts. You would also like the San Antonio Ridge traverse from Iron to Baldy. While snow is still there go for Snow Creek to San Jacinto. Finish up your dinner with a Triplet ...

Re: Old Mt. Wilson Trail

I hiked the whole area today. Route up to Jones has significant erosion at beginning but can be bypassed to the left. Rest of route is pretty solid, some people are going up this route. Route over to Hastings has minimal trail but also minimal brush. Route to Mt Wilson Fire Road is similarly minimal ...

Re: How difficult is the Big Bunny?

It's tough I did it as a day hike with Villager. The gain on the return was really unpleasant and it also is a lot of miles. I think it was just under 12 hours for me. The good news is once you climb Villager, you've got most of the climb done but that rolling ridge afterwards, no bueno on way back ...

A lived experience is what it says. You can have experiences that aren't lived for example reading, watching, hearing or seeing one. Those are all passive experiences that are not considered lived.

Re: Angeles National Forest seeks public input for San Antonio Canyon / Mount Baldy area

I don't believe that the Forest Service exists. All announcements are AI and the people driving around in those trucks are actually Kaiser nurses who need some extra cash so they have a dress up day and are told to issue as many tickets as possible.

I usually do a longer cardio day on Thursday's if it is quiet at work. I'm going to go up at least to Orchard Camp and see what's what tomorrow.I would like to do Bastard's Ridge loop up to Wilson in a week or so but need to make sure I can get down from Manzanita Ridge.

There is a shortcut up the ridge that allows for easy passage versus following the road from the 39. I want to do this as a hike so let me know if you guys are going otherwise I'll probably go up in the next month with the cooler temps on a Sunday.

Hikers are Good People

I finished up my hike to Twin Peaks on Sunday early afternoon near where the dirt road intersects the 2. I keep all my personal stuff in my day pack and transfer it to my pockets when I get in the car. I typically change shoes before I drive back and did the same on Sunday. Apparently as I was ...

Re: Pot growers north of triplet ridge

Illegal growing is thriving as well if not at greater levels then prior to legalization. The main reason for the legalization was to tax the hell out of the growers/sellers and put some money into the coffers of government. The government has been overzealous and made running a legal pot business ...

I am referring to the north side of Waterman where the trail makes the loop out to the east on your map, there is that wide drainage that goes up in a southwesterly direction.

Re: Scofflaws hiking through burn areas

Both things can be true in that the reason for closures are ridiculous and the rules are the rules. It is clear that most closures have to do with lack of capability on the part of the FS and not the reason that is given to allow the area to grow back. The whole Los Padres has been left to go to ...
