Earlier in the season it wasn't plowed.
Made a nice ski on the skinnies.
But then the bridge wasn't finished either.....

Fantabulous!
You would have thunk the scent and/or hair would have kept Bob away.
Must be some kinda powerful 'nip.
Maybe that's what the camera smashers were after.....

I missed seeing a small one in some manzanita between W Baldy and Big Iron on a 100 degree plus day at over 8500 feet!
Thankfully, my partner saw it first or I would have been right on top of it.
Who woulda thunk they hang at that altitude?

Re: Baldy Register Ridge 2-21-09
Glamisking, Be prepared for a long day. Looks like some snow is falling at the moment. The route has become pretty well delineated and you can avoid the 3rd class easily. When in doubt stick to the ridge line proper. I would suggest an early start since you will probably not wish to return the way y...

Re: Baldy Register Ridge 2-21-09
Took a RR noobie up on Sunday. Actually, he did the heavy lifting. Postholing that is. For me, it was just another glorious day on Mt. Baldy, albeit a bit breezy. 'Pons, 'shoes, and boots were used sequentially as conditions softened. The snow had a nice corn to it, particularly on the N facing slop...

My wilderness partner has skied it a couple of times.
He was fortunate to escape from an avalanche in the next couloir that surely would have swept him to his death.

An attractive offer, but I'm afraid I'm committed already..... (No need for the obvious comment. Most SG Forum readers know that about me anyway.) Great choice, btw, for a collective shindig. Unfortunately, you can still get PO in the winter. Be forewarned! Particularly near many of the stream cross...

Actually, my client called the cops today when he found out about the fatality and subsequent posts.
I just spoke to them too. They are referring our info to homicide, fwiw.

Re: Fatality in Big-T on Sunday
I just spoke to my client again about his recollections of our drive-by. We did notice a recent (not new) whitish looking crossover vehicle backed into a rugged pullout a hundred yards or so below the "official" overlook -- with its rear hatch open. He also recollects overhearing someone t...

Re: Fatality in Big-T on Sunday
I was taking a client from Dallas on a short tour of the San Gabriels and drove by the dam about 1:00ish. Neither of us noticed anything out of the ordinary. There was a couple washing/waxing their car at the overlook, and perhaps a vehicle parked on the upstream side of the bridge below the dam. No...
