For the record, I once watched deer play an organized game of follow the leader. But it was on the right coast.

Re: A magik few moments -- but not within the San Gabe's....
Went back again and was rewarded with multiple Osprey viewings but not from as close up as the first time. Pretty pleased to have conjured him up again! In fact, I think there are 2 young Ospreys along this section of the LA River. The highlight was witnessing a dogfight between what I think is a Re...

Mark and I were heading up the swirchbacks as you were descending. We had come up from the Middle Fork.
Believe it or not, after the 1st 5 minutes, we had the summit all to our selves!

Re: A magik few moments -- but not within the San Gabe's....
So I returned at the same time today with a camera. No Osprey.
Just a few Great Blue Herons, Egrets, a Red Shouldered Hawk,
2 Kingfishers, a Night Heron, and a bunch of Cormorants, Mallards, etc, etc.
Yawn...

I think it was a young inexperienced male.

After yet another white knuckle bike ride to Griffith Park, I had the privilege of watching a young Osprey feed for at least 10 minutes along the LA River Bike Path, N of Los Feliz and S of Colorado today. It just kept circling around and dive bombing in front of me. Absolutely awesome!!

What we all sensed was the case from the beginning, unfortunately.
Kudos to the LA Times for ferreting out this unfortunate truth.

Access is always an issue in the winter and early spring.
Maybe you could ski the road to reach the T/H.
Hmmmn. Now that's an intriguing thought.....

It sure is a nice mountain. Bit underrated on the pleasurometer, I suspect.
Been wanting to ski it on skinnies. But never caught the weather window/work schedule right -- yet.
Glad you're back on the saddle!
