Re: Baldy Bowl and Ski Hut Trail

I went up the backbone trail today. The weather felt like september. There was a few patches of dirty snow but nothing that could not be walked around. The wind was about 5 mph and not a cloud in the sky. Great day for a hike.

Re: Baldy summit vandalism

I agree - it's not vandalism - it's just a different point of view. It's not "just a different point of view." It's an evil point of view. These people are either ignorant vandals or pure life-haters. In either case, they represent a certain degree of evil on the mountain. The people who ...

Hey Guys,

Can anyone please tell me the trail conditions for Baden Powell via Vincent Gap? Also, how is the road coming in through Wrightwood.

Thanks,

Re: Baldy summit vandalism

Sure, but you're all right taking a paved road in your emission-spewing vehicle right up to the point where nature "starts", for you , eh? Well nature starts for me a little bit further down the road, so excuse me if I remove your car from the parking lot while your hiking. And blow up th...

Re: Baldy summit vandalism

When I first saw the title of this thread I thought I was going to be happy. My first impression was that someone was going to be commenting on the vandalism on the mountain of building wind shelters on the summit. Much to my surprise... it was complaints about damaging the wind shelters that should...

I have drank that water straight before with no ill effects. I too overtreat the water but since it doesnt hurt to treat the water I do it just in case.

Nice work Logan (& Family), looks like you completed the run up Islip from the last hike where you camped out - looks like all kinds of "eispiraten's" have been getting up there lately - I swear I don't know who covered the PCT symbol with a sticker  on that sign Thanks for shar...

Baden Powell 7_10_2011

We went up Baden Powell on Sunday. My two buddies went with me and one brought his 6 year old. He made it with out being carried. I think he was the youngest on the mountain. Great day in the hills. There is no trace of snow left at all anywhere on the route.

Mt. Islip Via Crystal Lake 6_26_2011

We went up the Windy Gap trail out of crystal lake campground. It was hot and dry. The water crossings are drying up or getting real small. I wouldnt count on any water until little jimmy spring. The weather was great and views spectacular.

Little Jimmy on 6/19/2011 Sorry for the delay in getting this TR up. Little Jimmy was awesome. Wife, Daughter and I hiked in on Saturday night just at sunset. Baldy 5-22-11 Many Pics

I went up the Ski Hut Trail and took a group of people from my work that were all inexpereinced hikers. We had been training for the last six weeks doing local hikes and walking after work. Some had never been hiking before. Most of them did great getting to the top, but as we all know that is only ...

Yes the trail was easy to follow all the way down but the camp was way overgrown.

Cool TR --- any idea what this is --- any chance of it being a succulent? I really like succulents but can't be for certain if it's a succulent. The leaves and the flowers seem to lean in that direction. Maybe an echeveria ??? https://eispiraten.com/images-archived/photobucket/i261/albums/ii57/VanL...

That snake was about 50 yards from camp up stream. The snake was on a rock that was in the middle of the creek. He was going to have to swim to get to shore.

Upper Bear Creek Trail Camp via Hwy 39 / Smith Saddle (pics)

The trip was Saturday and Sunday May 14-15 Marty and I hit the trail at about 8:30 am on Saturday and had great weather... to start. The hike up to smith saddle was awesome. Trail in perfect condition with 3 or 4 water crossings on the way up. The trail going down the other side was not so perfect. ...
