During hunting season, I slap a blaze orange rag on my pack for safety.
Sad situation.

Re: The Firearms Thread
off topic sorta but, we're planning a trip to Wyoming and relative there said bring the bear spray but not the gun. Seems that grizzlies around that area in late fall/big eating time, are actually attracted to gunshots - thinking they can poach a deer or elk. Mess with one and you might get up clos...

Re: Poachers
My first thought is that it seems most of our sightings of sheep are in sort of "common knowledge" places (not at all uncommon on Baldy, and that general area). But maybe I have tunnel vision about how many people know these places at all. After all, a lot of my friends ask where I go hik...

Re: Poachers
It's an excellent point you make. I think about this a lot. I don't want to sound like an alarmist. The most recent sheep poaching incident I can think of was back in 2006. http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?secti ... id=4778507 The news reported it as a lost hunter who was later found dead. Rumor o...

First I would like to say this sub-forum is sweet. I enjoy all the wildlife footage, as I'm sure you all do as well. I have a small concern though... I notice some of you post the locations of where you guys get your photos/videos. You never know who lurks these forums. Maybe this isn't such a big d...

Re: Pot Farms in our mountains
This is a thread I found on a firearms forum I frequent related to this topic.

^This is a LONG pot farm story with lots of pictures.^
There is also a book written by a Game Warden on the topic (War in the Woods).

Re: Portion of the Silver Moccasin Trail
I was near Windy Gap two weeks ago.
On our way up, we hear something that sounds like thunder. We look up through the trees and see a massive rockslide. I'd never heard anything like that before. Pretty scary stuff.
Very nice pictures by the way!

Re: Man shot to death at Chantry
I used to consider Chantry Flats the safest area (from crime) in the San Gabriels.
