The explanation is so simple it jumps off of the page at you: No bear has ever found a minivan that did not have food left in it.

Baldy via Backbone 10-9-09
I have been up Baldy dozens of times but had never bothered to go up the Backbone Trail, which is the most popular (and easiest). I have been down the Backbone a few times, but today was the day for a round trip. I started in Manker Flat, walked up the dirt road to the Ski Lodge and (finally) went u...

Re: Retrieval of memorial register at Mount Whitney
I like to think that a majority of Whitney hikers are good people who would sympathize with the families of Arnie and Ted. It's possible they misunderstood the intent of the memorial. Another case of a few knuckleheads casting a stain on the majority. :? Very sad! As for snapping the flag? I don't ...

I'm really starting to think they realized 'city' homes weren't seriously threatened - and they just said 'fvck it' from there - who cares if those mountains burn, they're just mountains afterall. The second day effort was obviously downsized, and the County was not called in at the levels of the first day. I don't see any contradiction between that and a request at some point in the day for a helicopter. We are obviously missing some important details, though. A veteran county fire official ...

Gotta love the the modern L.A. Times and there modern-day publishing strategy. Why not make a story out of something so obvious as the fact the winter rains will cause muddy debris flows to come down the hills after a brushfire denuded them in the fall. "Why not?" is the relevant question...

Indefinite: Not definite, especially:TacoDelRio wrote:The definition of indefinitely does mean FOREVER, right?
I do believe this makes zero sense, if that's the case.
a. Unclear; vague.
b. Lacking precise limits: an indefinite leave of absence.
c. Uncertain; undecided: indefinite about their plans.
