We evacuated last night from Upper Hastings Ranch (NE Pasadena). Back at house now. Can still see fire to the east. This neighborhood lost a few houses reportedly.

The forest service has official trail designations but they are just alpha-numeric gibberish. For example, Three points to Twin/Waterman saddle is 10W04...this link shows the forest service map with road and trail designations indicated...

I have been about 450' above the mine's location on Iron Mountain's north ridge - your last picture - which is an easy stroll from Monte Cristo campground. I posted a question about the Dora May claim marker I saw on this ridge and @Terry Morse prompted me to find a few links. No worky any more so ...

My memory of the route is that there were a shit ton of arrows, dots and other marks of various colors that went in all sorts of different directions. We just followed boot prints and logic. The HPS site doesn't have an official route description for the west ridge. The only description is in the TR that you have seen.

It describes bypassing the ephemeral waterfall on the right and ascend the subsidiary ridge up to the main ridge. I stayed in the drainage and ended up on the wrong ...

Devil Peak, the observatory and Mt. Mooney used to be heavily forested with no views except from parts of the road connecting the three. Which fire burned all of the trees? The station fire?
