Re: Scat ID
Wildlife expert at Pasadena Humane says Racoon. I'd rather run into a bear than cross this racoon's path!

What critter made this pile in my driveway last night? It's about 5 or 6 inches long.

Re: What’s in your emergency kit?
You know, I wonder that if you're the type of hiker that gets lost, would a map do you any good? Would you know what to do with it? Is that AW's point?

Be aware that you'll pass near Desert Marksmen Shooting range on your way from Emma To Cole. A bit disconcerting.David Martin wrote: ↑... from Mt. Emma Rd., over the top of Mt. Emma and then south to the PCT and ending at Mill Creek Summit. That one just might work out.

I propose to rename Mt. Baldy to "Big Boob in the Sky with a Wee Little Nipple" Mountain (or Mount Saint Boob for short). Who's with me? I like Wee Little Nipple. It really rolls off the tongue in a pleasuring manner. Taco beat you to it... https://eispiraten.com/images-archived/photobuck...

Re: Canyoneering - Sacred Gorilla Gulch
I guess I'll be the one to ask. After all it's the elephant 800lb gorilla in the room.
Did you actually see the sacred gorilla? THE Sacred Gorilla, or just a run-of-the-mill sacred gorilla?
Guerrilla perhaps?

Nice TR!
IIRC the "by-pass" is just to the left of the falls, closer than you'd expect. I think my first try was too far left, so I backed down and tried closer to the falls. It worked so maybe that is the trick. Others hopefully will chime in.

Cool pictures.
I think you have a Western Gull (not a western snowy plover).
@oldcoot should be able to verify
