South Downs Way, England
Brief TR: My wife and I walked the South Downs Way in the south of England. 100 miles total and supposedly 12000+ ft of gain (depending on source). We walked it west-to-east, starting July 1st in Winchester, and finishing in Eastbourne on July 8th. Here's a screen shot of the trail map and elevatio...

Re: Missing hiker on Baldy (Julian Sands)
Gosh, that'd be the first place to look for a lost person on Baldy. Perhaps at the time snow quickly obliterated all trace of him ending up there.

Re: Quoth the Raven
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore, While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my refrigerator door. Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at ...

Re: Destroying Angel Aka Death Cap mushroom
You have to eat it. Touching is not a problem with any mushroom. It doesn't take a lot, but a single mushroom can be your last. The toxin, amatoxin, is neither water not heat soluble, so there is no preparation that makes it other than deadly. The same toxin is in the destroying angel that GirlHike...

What's the difference between beer nuts and deer nuts?
Beer nuts are about 49cents and deer nuts are just under a buck.

Re: Climate Change
Well in all fairness it's not a uniquely human trait. We fancy apes just do it 'big style' since we use tools and shit. That's my big winner question of life though, which comes first: human initiated extinction (or mass depopulation), or the whole let's go fuck Europa up or whatever. I do wanna se...

I skipped Markham and made it to San Gabriel Peak before everyone else. Here's a view of Markham from San Gabriel, but the resolution isn't high enough to see y'all who were on top of Markham (I could see everyone through the binocs though).

First impressions...
#1 is a waterfall (genius!)
#2 is somewhere in the high country (perhaps Buckhorn/Pallett/Will Thrall area).
#3 Mt. Lowe RR right-of-way maybe (from echo to Dawn Mine?)
#4-#6 Lytle Creek area?
