Re: Best places to hike in the San Bernardino Mts?

Check out the San Gorgonio Wilderness Message Board.

Which is better the San Gabriels, the San Bernardinos, or the San Jacintos? Who knows? What mood am I in that day? :)

You're just lucky...

Actually, I've been seeing more snakes than usual as well. I saw three rattlers in 5 days last month.

Columbine Spgs is also pretty reliable. I haven't heard of it going dry. Kelly Camp? Dry.

Re: Little Jimmy Springs

Little Jimmy is extremely reliable and I haven't heard of any reports of it going dry. I'd say it's flowing. Windy Spring and Lilly spring which are nearby are both duds. Save your time. Stay at Little Jimmy. You can easily bag Islip, Hawkins, or Throop from there. If you want more miles, you can hi...

One of my favorite hikes pre-Station Fire. Nice to see that it can be done again, but the shade is all gone. :(

Re: 20140719 Monkeyface Falls Canyoneering

Looks like cool stuff. Lots more canyons over in the Berdoos, bro. Falls Creek from below the confluence of the E and W forks. It's been done, but from the little bit of non-technical recon I did would be a lot of fun. It ends in a three tiered falls, the top tier of which is about 100'. You could s...

Hi, Sonny, Nice to see you here on the SGMDF. This is a good move all around. First, if a group can be shown to be responsible and contributing to the good of the ANF, that can only help that group's credibility -- and credibility is much needed to counteract the knee-jerk "total closure" ...

Re: san gorgonio wilderness - water

It's definitely drier than normal. It's unusual to see Dollar Lake dry this early, and usually there's at least drips coming out at Trail Fork Springs. The springs along the Forsee Creek Trail, including Jackstraw, aren't all that reliable even in normal years. Some years, there's flow across the tr...

Aye, Mike they do. I look at the pictures I took a year ago, and she looks so different. I come home now, and she crawls in my lap and says "I love you daddy." About 10 years from now, she'll have purple hair and will hold up a crucifix (as though I were Dracula) when I come in the room. S...

Re: altitude mask

Dunno. My gut says it's of dubious value. I wouldn't buy one unless there were some documented study on it. It might restrict air flow, but the air that flows in will still have the same density/pressure that it normally would.
