Re: Esme Canyon Tunnel Access Path

That is the trail to the water tunnel(s) that supplies water to Henninger Flats. Apparently it's dry now though. https://eispiraten.com/images-archived/lh4.googleusercontent.com/-DDMaKaqoNFg/UZYe1MAxgaI/AAAAAAAAg-4/a76vz9D5JYo/s1152/DSC01214.JPG https://eispiraten.com/images-archived/lh6.googleuserc...

Re: Falls of High Creek

Great trip, Hikin' Jim. You may have to write a book some day. In the mean time, you could add more secrets to your blog (hint, hint). ;) yeah. Just a matter of having time to do it. I've got years worth of good hikes I'd like to document in the SGW alone. Don't know if I'll ever get to it. We'll s...

Ha, ha, no way. Allison is maybe 60', and those falls on High Creek were all at least 25', some bigger.

Re: Falls of High Creek

I haven't, Sean, but I know it's a "go". I've talked to several people who have done it. The Dobbs loop I want to do is one going up the ridge from Vivian Creek Camp, and then down Falls Creek to Allison Falls and Dobbs Camp, and then exiting at Forest Falls. Allison Falls is one of the be...

Re: Middle Fork Lytle Creek -- Mini Trip

Here's my GPS track for the Middle Fork of Lytle Creek. If you zoom out a bit, you'll see the Lytle Creek Ranger Station. I assume that's where you'd get a permit. I'm not aware of any quota.

Re: Falls of High Creek

Yeah, I was very pleased at how much water there was. A couple of weeks ago I did a trip to, among other things Dollar and Dry Lakes. There was no water at either lake or at the springs near the lakes. I had to dry camp. Fortunately I had packed 3 liters of water just in case.

Falls of High Creek

I did a little cross country travelling this past weekend up in the San Gorgonio Wilderness. One of the routes I did was a route up high Creek from the Halfway Camp area. Here is my GPS track showing the route I took from Halfway Camp to High Creek Camp. There was some pretty heavy brush between Hal...

As much as I appreciate Otis' very relevant input to this discussion, ;) may I suggest the Interactive San Gorgonio Wilderness Map that I've put together as one possible source of information. Re: Middle Fork Lytle Creek -- Mini Trip

Great trip, Jim. Beautiful area. In early July, I hiked the Middle Fork all the way to Ice House Saddle and back. There was water at Stone House, then the creek went dry for a while beyond that. There was decent water at Third Crossing, but absolutely none up at Comanche. Maybe there's a little spr...

Re: Middle Fork Lytle Creek -- Mini Trip

Ha! We just went up to Stonehouse and went no further due to time constraints. The water at Stonehouse was flowing really well. I am pretty sure that there would be water at or near Third Crossing since the two major branches of the Middle Fork of Lytle Creek come together nearby. I don't know if Co...

Middle Fork Lytle Creek -- Mini Trip

Just took my daughter out to the Middle Fork of Lytle Creek last Saturday for a quick mini trip (we had to be back home by 3:00 or so). First, the road. The road's in lousy shape. Fortunately, my friend Jeff drove his XTerra, so we were fine, but I wouldn't think it would be a very good idea to driv...

No, not really.

Yes, there are some regulations pending, but this is what's called "Click Baiting". Misleading headlines are posted causing people to get all bent out of shape. Don't fall for it. It's nothing.

Little Jimmy GPS Track and Down Tree Report

Just a brief report. A. Little Jimmy GPS Track . Note that the position of the service road on the topo map is way off. Personally, I like using the service road better than starting at Islip, but there's not a whole lot of difference. The start at Islip Saddle is pretty exposed if you're going on a...
